DR DONALD LEITCH, MB BS, MRCP(UK), MRCGP
Donald graduated from London University. He trained in hospital medicine in England and was a Research Fellow at the University of Newcastle studying preventive medicine. During his training he obtained post graduate degrees in general medicine and general practice. He came to Shoal Bay in 1990.
His special interests include the Prevention and Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease, Diabetes, Skin Cancer Management and Travel Medicine. Don likes fishing and really doesn’t much like mobile phones! He loves to travel.
DR ROSALIND LEITCH, MB BS, FRCS(Ed), DRCOG, Master of Medicine Skin Cancer
Rosalind graduated from London University in 1980. She spent a number of years in Australia and the UK training in general surgery and ear, nose and throat surgery. During her training she obtained post graduate degrees in surgery and obstetrics and gynaecology. She started working in Shoal Bay in 1990. Her special interests include women’s health, pregnancy care, skin cancer management and facial reconstructive surgery. In 2012 she obtained a Masters Degree in Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery from the University of Queensland.
Ros likes a good joke, so bring one along. She likes to travel too.
DR PETER ROMERO, MB BS
Peter graduated from Sydney University in 1981. He spent four years postgraduate training at Westmead Hospital during which time he gained experience in children’s medicine, women’s health and orthopaedic problems. After a year of varied locums across New South Wales, he joined the Shoal Bay Medical Centre in 1986.
His special interests include Skin Cancer Management, Men’s Health, Preventive Health and Weight Loss. Peter enjoys bush walking and tennis when he is not working.
DR ROBERT MARTIN, BSc(Hons), MBChB, DFFP, DRCOG, MRCGP, FRACGP
Rob graduated in Medicine from Glasgow University, Scotland in 1990. During his medical degree he also had the opportunity to study tropical medicine and graduated Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours in 1987. Rob’s first Practice was as a single-handed GP in his home area at the Mull of Kintyre on the west coast of Scotland. He then moved to a large practice in Northamptonshire, England where he qualified as a GP Supervisor, training doctors to be GPs, and became a Programme Director (Medical Educator) for GP training. He was also a GP Appraiser. Rob brought his family to Port Stephens in November 2010 and joined Shoal Bay as a Partner in 2012.
His special medical interests include Chronic Disease Management (asthma & diabetes), Children & the Elderly and Teaching & Training. Robert likes cars and loves his kids.
DR DANIEL PRIEST, MB BS, DRANZCOG, FRACGP
Daniel came from Condobolin, central NSW. He studied medicine at the University of Sydney graduating in 1995. His junior doctor training was at Gosford hospital and he was awarded a Diploma of Obstetrics in 2000. In 2000, he started work in general practice on the Central Coast as part of GP training, gaining an FRACGP in 2001. From 2003, Daniel worked partly in Australian general practice and partly as a volunteer doctor at a small Christian Mission hospital in the Western Province of PNG. He started work in our medical centres in 2011.
Medical interests include: Skin Cancer screening and surgery, Tropical and Travel Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and General Family Medicine. Daniel enjoys the outdoors.
DR DENISA ROBINSON, BMed, FRACGP, Dip Child Health
Denisa graduated from Newcastle University in 2005. She has worked in Newcastle, Hornsby and North Shore Hospitals before attaining her GP training and qualifications. She has since completed her sexual health and family planning certificate and Diploma in Child Health (Westmead Children’s hospital).
Her special interests include Women's Health, Chronic Disease Management and Mental Health. Denisa likes to sing, travel and invent new dishes in the kitchen.
DR JODIE YAPP, B.App. Sc., MB BS, FRACGP, Dip Child Health
Jodie graduated from the University of Sydney in 2002 after a previous career as an Environmental Health Officer. She has been working in general practice since 2004 and subsequently studied women's health and IUD insertion through Family Planning NSW. She also has a Diploma in Child Health and enjoys seeing children and being involved in antenatal care.
Jodie divides her time between clinical practice and teaching GP trainees in Newcastle.
DR TRINA ELDRIDGE, BA, BMed, FRACGP
Trina is originally from Victoria but moved to the Nelson Bay area to study medicine at the University of Newcastle, graduating in 2010. Her junior doctor training was at Maitland Hospital and she particularly enjoyed working in the neonatal and paediatric wards during this time. She started working for our medical centres in 2013.
Trina has completed further training in Family Planning, Sexual Health and Womens Health.
